Being fortunate to have the beautiful beaches of North Cornwall right on my door step I spend hours with our beach loving Cocker Spaniel hunting for the treasures the sea offers up.
Whether it be driftwood, sea glass, sea china or shells I rarely come home empty handed and will be out in all weathers. I'm happy in welly boots, trainers, flip flops or bare feet!
Alongside beach combing, I take the opportunity to beach clean and remove litter and ocean based waste such as plastics and lost fishing gear washed up with the tide.
My absolute favourite shells to find are the tiny delicate pink cowries, hard to spot until you have a trained eye but are the most perfect shaped little shell.
Having spent hours over the years collecting beach treasures, I started to create some crafts with my collection in the early part of 2024. Starting out with some simple coastal themed pictures set in white box frames, I soon swapped my collection of treasures into a collection of pictures.
So in December that year I nervously booked my first craft fair, bought a few props for my table and offered my pictures for sale. I loved it! The buzz of setting up and talking to other stall holders had me hooked and I came home eager to book another one.
A second successful fair a week later began to instill some confidence in myself that my crafts appealed to people. So I took the plunge and opened an Etsy shop in late December. The 'ching ching' notification sound from the Etsy app when I received my first order a few days later gave me the confidence to get more creative and expand the types of crafts I made, which now include candles, lamps, Christmas trees, key rings and other home accessories and decor.
I still attend local fairs and markets throughout the year and continue to regularly add to my Etsy shop. I'd love for you to check out my shop at the link below?
